Thursday

3c with the wind out of the south east at 35km/h and light rain...now if you are just arriving back from your winter in the south this might seem a bit chilly but if you are one of the ones who stayed here all winter, aahh!..great ,no frost...the start will be on time. I hear by the grape vine that there is a new crop of Birdies to be had so come out and get your fair share before they are all gone. Putt well and we'll see you out there.

Wednesday

What a beautiful day yesterday was,..2 more like that and it will be a horrible week. This morning we are at -1c and with the rain overnight the roads are treacherous (slippery with ice). The start will be delayed today as I'm sure everyone realizes. A 10:00 ish O'clock warm up will be a good target for today. It is good to see some of the birds have returned for the year (robins and red winged black birds ). With their arrival spring surely isn't far away. Hit your putt so that if it misses it travels past the hole 16 inches and you'll be surprised at how many go in. Have fun and we'll see you out there.

Tuesday

Clear skies all night with a brilliant full moon. At present the temperature is -1c which means everyone and I mean everyone knows that there is frost to delay the start. The question of the morning is whether the sunshine of yesterday was enough to keep everybody's spirits up through this mornings delay. Only time will tell that. The forecast is for a few clouds today and fairly warm so again another great golf day in February. Drive it straight and we'll see you out there.

Sunday

4c with cloud cover...so far so good on the frost front, as in none...there is a wind warning for this afternoon so get your round in early and then sit back and enjoy the Oscars (gag). Just think, in a couple of days March will be in sight...hasn't winter gone fast?? Time flies when your having fun. Putt well and we'll see you out there.

Today is the day for golf. You heard it here first. The sun is out (and will stay out), there is no frost and the light breeze has taken care of the dew. The holes have been changed; greens, tees and collars have been cut. Conditions are as good as they get for February 23. If you've seen tomorrow's forecast I know I'll definitely see you out here today. Have fun.

Friday, February 22, 2013

UGH. We're starting the day with wind and rain and the demeanor that follows. The system is supposed to blow over by around 10:00, so perhaps you'll be greeted by smiling faces about then. To keep us all happy for now, though, I'll mention that the start will be on time. Enjoy your round.

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Thursday

2c with a shower in the area..for now the start time will not be delayed on account of frost but who knows what MN will do next...the forecast is for 60% chance of sun today so again an excellent day for a round of golf...we are cutting the greens today so Birdies will be easily had...enjoy the sun and we'll see you out there.

Wednesday

-1c with a clear sky...not good for the golfer who likes to partake in their obsession (or is it addiction) in the early morning...we have frost at the moment and the start time will most likely be delayed...if you are planning to start warming up,for your round ,about 10:00ish you won't be too far off. Come out and get some sunshine and if you bag a couple Birdies as well, all the better. We'll see you out there.

Tuesday

3c and a very light rain, a mist I guess you'd call it or maybe just low clouds. One of those, you pick. I read that there are threats of sunshine for this afternoon, I'll have to see that to believe it. After today we won't have to worry about any idle threats as it looks like cloud for the next week...the silver lining is that there should be no frost delays for the next week as well (that's grasping at straws). Sigh. Enjoy your day and we'll see you out there.

Monday

1c with cloud cover and the threat of rain (light light rain). The start time looks like it will be on time barring any unforseen situations.I just happened to check the weather in Sask.this morning and I saw, a feels like -38, and quickly shut off the computer. I feel bad for them but the good part is I feel good for us in that we are smart enough to live here now. Funny how that works. Drive it straight and we'll see you out there.

Sunday

-1c and clear skies (how come skies is plural when there is only one sky??). There will be a delay of the start time this morning. Frost!!! A target today of 10:00 ,for warm up, would be wise. Again mother nature is holding all the cards so we are at the mercy of her mood.?!? The forecast high is 6c so when we do get going it is going to be nice. Putt well and we'll see you out there.

Saturday, February 16, 2013

There's a bit of everything in the sky this morning: blue patches, grey patches, even a star or two. It's a bit chilly but no sign of frost, so we'll assume the start will be on time. The radar shows no sign of rain for most of the day. Will the sun actually come out today? It never does when I mention it, so I'll be quiet now. (Enjoy your game.)

Friday, February 15, 2013

Things are pretty mild here at the course this morning so the start will definitely be on time. The only challenge at the moment is wiping the dew off one's glasses and hopefully the sun will take care of that in just a few hours. The course is in great shape so come on out and enjoy a round.

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Thursday

We had 4mm of rain overnight and the forecast is for showers but it looks like the worst is over. The good news is that there will be no delay of the start time today. We have a mild morning this morning and the holes will be changed and as everyone knows new holes produced lots of Birdies so come out and get your fair share. Hit it straight, hit it far and we'll see you out there.

Wednesday

As we all know, at this time of year, when the stars are shining brightly there are going to be frost delays. That being said, all is well in the Oceanside area. We have frost to start the day and the start time will be delayed. With the sunrise getting earlier and earlier our frost delays are getting shorter and shorter so I think around 9:45 ish would be a good target for your warmup today. Enjoy your day and we'll see you out there.

Great Course Conditions on Family Day

It was a great family day at Pheasant Glen today. More then 100 golfers played and 3 signed up for winter passes til the end of March because they felt we have the best course conditions around. Our Maintenance staff of 4 should be commended for providing us all with dry fairways and good greens. The Golf Shop may even have the best smokies in town?!?!

Family Day

Course is open and in great shape. Call ahead as available tee times are limited.

Family day weekend

Has been a great weekend so far. Weather has cooperated and the course is in great shape. Gonna be a busy day tomorrow, if you are thinking of playing call the Golf Shop to check availability.

Saturday, February 9, 2013

A bit cooler than yesterday morning with a hint of frost. If the clouds hang around (you know this story by now) we may just get away with a timely start. Yesterday the frost lifted right at 9:00 so the odds are that any delay will be a short one. Let's hope I don't end up eating my words. Enjoy your game.

Friday, February 8, 2013

Just under 3 degrees with some cloud cover here at the course. Usually that would be enough to keep the frost at bay but the grass is currently on the crispy side. How long it stays that way will depend on whether the clouds hang around or not, but at the moment there's a possibility of a delay in start times. A call to the pro shop is recommended before loading up your clubs today. It should be a beautiful afternoon once we get going, though, so enjoy your round when it happens.

Thursday

4c with scattered cloud cover...this is going to be one of those weird days where the frost may come on if it stays clear or (that should be OR) not if the clouds float over. The delay won't be long though, even if it does stay clear. We had 7mm of rain overnight so, thankfully, it hasn't dried up too much . The greens are rolling good so there is no excuse for four putting. Play well and we'll see you out there.

Kelly
p.s.- it's raining now so disregard everything above, well not everything, the part about the four putting still holds true. Stupid rainforest....

More course improvements

Here's our Superintendent, Kelly Jacobson, on a course inspection. This is the fairway bunker on the 8th hole of the Pines nine. New drainage and shaping as we continue to make course improvements during the off season.

Wednesday

4c with some showers in the area. We had over 13mm of rain yesterday and overnight so there will be the odd puddle around and other than the wind warning it should be a good day for a round of golf. The ball will fly good in one direction at least. Putt well and we'll see you out there.

Rain storm

Well that was quite a rain storm that came through here. Well done to those of you who stayed out there! A true test of west coast weather.

Low and behold the sun is shining, really I'm not kidding, really...get out here and see for yourself. Oh yeah, bring your clubs.

6c with a warm breeze out of the south...what a great start to the day...already the drives are straighter and the putts are falling...the scattered showers will miss us as well...yikes, after rereading the statements above, I
assure you I'm not on some mood altering substance mixed in with my morning coffee....although....back back back...
The start will be on time this morning.Hit it close and we'll see you out there.

February Specials

Here are our February Specials. Come on out and see our great course conditions and other clearance items. We are gearing up for Spring and need to make room for all the new fashions and golf equipment. Still thinking of joining a golf club? Call us today to inquire about our membership offers.

If you have been following the blog for the last few days be assured that this is in fact a new post. 4c with a bit of fog. My oh my when are we going to see the sun. Is it just me or has it absent for the whole winter? The good news is that the start will be on time today. I guess if this is a bad a it gets we're pretty lucky. A quick call back to the prairies reinforces that last statement quite forcefully. Play well, have fun and we'll see you out there.

Sunday, February 3, 2013

Well can we have more similar mornings in a row than what we're experiencing...I think not. The forecast for tomorrow is for rain so the monotony should be over. The start will be on time today barring a total atmospheric collapse. Enjoy your day and we'll see you out there. Go Ravens go.

Saturday, February 2, 2013

Conditions this morning are quite similar to yesterday: 5 degrees and overcast. The chance of a shower passing through is quite low and the sun may even reveal itself, believe it or not. Keep an eye out for it. Enjoy your game.

Friday, February 1, 2013

The first day of February will start without any delays in start times as it is relatively mild this morning. There's enough mist in the air to wipe your windshield every 27 seconds or so but we can deal with that. The sun is due to reveal itself later today and also tomorrow, so come on out and enjoy the great conditions before things get a bit soggy later in the week.
