Sunday

It looks like the rain is over for this weekend...we've only had 23mm so there will be a puddle or two around..the good news is that there is no frost (at present)...just to be safe, for later,  bring sunscreen. ..we'll see you out there.

Saturday

With 2/3 of an inch of rain on the gauge we know the day will start out a bit soggy. The course may be a tad "receptive" until the rain tapers off, which just may happen later in the morning if the rumours are true. Some blue sky could even make an appearance, so look up now and then unless you're busy keeping your head down. Enjoy your game.

Friday

There will be NO mention of rain this morning. Wind won't even cross our minds. The focus will instead be on the complete and utter lack of frost and the fact that there will be no delay in start times.
Sincerely,
The Optimistic Blogger

Thursday

What rain? ??.... 6c and it looks good for the rest of the day (there could be minor glitches) with the sun even making an appearance around noon. When your taking the first layer off after the first hole just give a nod to the East and give a brief thought to our brethren who are still neck deep in winter. Thank you to whoever is responsible that we don't live in the part of Canada that is still a winter wonderland.

Wednesday

If it clears up any more we could be in trouble ...frost wise...so it's going to be one of 'those' days..optimists will be here for the normal start time...realists will be here around 10:00ish and pessimists won't show up at all because it could rain,  snow, sleet, etc...we'll be watching.

Saturday

There's good news and good news this morning. Firstly, it's juuuuuust warm enough to keep the frost away, so it looks like the start will be on time. Secondly, the amount of rain expected for today is barely worth mentioning. Heck, let's throw in a Thirdly. Thirdly, the radar suggests that the rain may not even show up (but don't hold me to that one). Play well and enjoy your round.

Friday

We're still waiting on spring here as the temperature is on the wrong side of zero. We got started around 10:00 yesterday, so let's shoot for a similar start time this morning. Once things thaw out a bit it should be a great day for golf. Enjoy the sunshine.

Thursday

What happens when it rains/hails off and on in 2c temperature, then..clears off and gets cold? ...freezing, frosty frozen everything, well almost everything. ..everything on the golf course, everything.that's what ..!!..there will be a delay in starting today. ..I wouldn't get too excited until 10:00ish...if you're going out early leave extra time to scrape your windows...oh yeah, happy first day of spring.

Wednesday

Yeah. .?...no frost! ..?..it is raining a bit though...just showers I'm sure..oh, life in a northern rainforest. ..patience (self-talk)..bring sunscreen, even if you don't use it today, you'll have some handy when the need arises. Play well.

Monday

I know it's hard to believe, but we have frost at the moment and yes the start will be delayed. The sun is supposed to shine this morning so the wait shouldn't be too long. I guess, too long, is a relative term. If you need to golf immediately any wait is, too long..and if you are relaxed about golfing on St. Patrick's Day then, too long, doesn't mean a thing (does relaxed mean a lot of green beer already?..funny you never hear about Irish whiskey on St. Pat's day...ok ok get back). Is digress the word I'm thinking of? Play well, celebrate hard.

Sunday

It's a mild start to the day with the odd shower around. We had 13mm of rain yesterday and overnight so it won't be dusty out there (whew). The start will be on time so get your gear shined up. We'll see you out there.

Saturday

If you believe the forecast we're in for a day of wind and rain. If you believe the radar we'll be just fine by about 10:00. Either way, nobody buys a rain jacket to putt indoors. Come on out and shoot the lights out.

Friday, March 14, 2014

Friday

The rain clouds were kind enough to visit overnight and then move on at the start of the day, so it looks like there's a dry day of golf ahead. It's pretty cool out there at the moment but not quite cool enough for frost. If it stays that way through sunrise the start should be on time. Enjoy your round.

Thursday

Ok ok ok ...there was frost yesterday morning that disappeared when the fog rolled in...we have frost this morning....now...is the fog going to roll in or what? ?..I'm saying not,  but check back around 8:00 for an update if, I repeat, if the fog rolls in and the frost moves out. At present there will be a delay to the start. The rain is supposed to fall after golf today which will work out quite nicely. Play well and we'll see you out there.

Update

What the? ??...fog rolled in frost moved out...we're good to go..

Kelly

Wednesday

-1c...now that's not a good start...(wwhhaatt? ?) ..oops I used that yesterday...the day is starting so similar to yesterday it's hard to tell one day from the next... the start will be delayed..yesterday we got going around 10:30 and today might be a bit later...patience. .the sun is going to shine.

Kelly

Tuesday

-1c...you know that's not good if you want an early game this morning..the bright spot is that it's going to be sunny all day. The start will be delayed...the sun doesn't rise until just before 8:00 so if we get a couple of hours sunshine the frost should be gone by, 10:00ish. Another day without rain, ahead so we'll be drying up nicely from last weeks deluge. .sunscreen . We'll see you out there.

Monday

The frogs sure think that spring is here...they're croaking up a storm this morning. ..I have a tendency to trust them more than the weatherman so, ..spring is officially here and you can take that to the bank! !!...the start will be on time ...bring your sunscreen, the sun is going to shine! We'll see you out there.

Sunday, March 9, 2014

Sunday

64mm (2 1/2 in.) of rain in the last week...the good news is that we only got 22mm yesterday and not the 30-50mm that was forecast. Yeaahhh! !...The really good news is that we should have a mostly sunny week ahead. Golf anyone? The start will be on time...we'll see you out there.

Saturday

Fair-weather golfers, you may want to look away from the screen.

So far the rain is light but the wind is gaining weight. Those cynical forecasters are predicting more rain and steady wind throughout the day, as if it were a bad thing. They must not be golfers. The hardiest of you are already packing up your rain jackets and your resolve, so we'll see you out there soon.

Friday

Today is the day to golf. Don't believe me? Check tomorrow's forecast. Ugh.
However, that ugh is followed by what looks to be a week of good weather, so things are looking up. Enjoy your round (today).

Thursday

18mm of rain overnight and I guess that is good news as the snow that was lingering on the Pines is almost all gone. Gone enough to start playing out there anyway. 6c with rain falling ...yeah...the start will be on time. Spring is just around the corner.

Wednesday

Who is the clown that ordered yesterday's weather. ..a real laugh that was...today is going to be much better. ..well, there should be no snow anyway...the Glen will open on time...there is a free drop if your ball lands in the snow surrounding a few of the greens, they needed the snow off more than the others...the Pines is still a couple of days or an inch of rain away from opening...we're making progress.

Kelly

Tuesday

You knew this day was coming...the snow is gone from the Glen...the Pines? ..still covered...now don't get too excited, because we have frost at present... that will lift a bit later (10:00ish) and all that pent up golf can be released. ..probably only 9 holes open today but that's a lot better than yesterday. ..baby steps Bob, baby steps.

Monday

If the rain comes a bit harder and the temperature rises some (lots) we should be golfing in a few days...wasn't that just a February to remember! !!!???!!!...have you had to replace your carpet yet...that vacuum is a nasty machine if your not careful.

Sunday

March 2th...snowfall warning in effect..snow still on the ground from last week...we need to do something about this global warming and I'm sure our brethren from the Prairies would agree...I clicked on the Yorkton icon on the Weather Network web page and my screen froze, that's how cold it is back in the Old Country...here's to hoping we don't get any more snow..

Saturday

I guess a frosty morning isn't an issue when there's still snow on the ground...

Enjoy the warmth of home for at least one more day and join us in hoping that tomorrow's precipitation falls in the form of droplets. No more flakes permitted.
