Frost, snow!! Where's the nearest airport? Driving range is now open, but no practice greens. Front nine will open on temps shortly and if it warms up the pins will move back to the regular greens.

Enough is enough! Let's get the season started. Saturday, February 26th we will be having the second Men's Shootout at the Glen. Sunday, February 13, 2011

Warm out there today. Played in the monsoon yesterday but the greens were unbelievable. Fast and true. A few puddles from yesterday's rain but all in all it looks like it could be a great day for golf.
Bring a foursome for $100.
1 dozen ProV's for $39.95.
Pheasant Glen logo cart bags on sale for $99.95 today and tomorrow only!!

The snow has melted but there is a lot of water that still needs somewhere to go. The front nine will be open on temporary greens today. The ground is still frozen underneath creating a very soft layer on top. The driving range will remain closed as it is too soft to pick up balls. Not a great scenario but if you feel the need for a walk come on out.

Here's a photo I took this morning of the driving range and #1. As you can see it is going to take significant rain to get rid of the snow. I am guessing it will be another 3 or 4 days at the earliest but then I tend to be a little more optimistic then most.

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Still bad news on the golfing front. The golf course is covered in snow and we haven't had the rain that was predicted. It is a slow melt. At this rate it will be at least a couple of days before we see a substantial amount of green grass. I will keep you posted but it looks like it will be next week some time at the earliest.

Very cold and covered in snow. Looks like we will be closed for a while. I will update the blog later in the week.

Sunday, January 9, 2011

Not good! Snow and more cold weather is coming. We will be closed for a few days if not longer. We need warm weather!!

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Still very frosty here. We will not open today but the range is open if you feel the need for a couple of swings.
Very cold start to the day! Heavy, heavy frost. Doubtful that we will get open today but if we do it will be on temps again. Forecast is for more freezing temps over the next couple of days. Could be a quiet January here at the Glen. Driving range will open a little later on the mats but the practice greens will remain closed.

Friday, January 7, 2011

It's a little warmer this morning but greens are still frozen. The problem is that there is a thin layer of turf that has thawed on top of frozen ground beneath. The frozen ground beneath is stopping the water from draining through causing a very mushy surface. Front nine will be open with temps.

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Well, it's another dreary day in Qualicum Beach. Front nine is open on temporary greens today. The ground is still frozen and isn't absorbing any of the water.

We have 3 new options for Pheasant Glen. You can join for as little as $375.00 plus annual dues. Contact the Golf Shop for more details. 250-752-8786

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Wow! Very cold again today. Frozen ground and some casual water on the surface of the greens will keep the course closed today. Looks like we will need a little rain and warmer temps to get things thawed out. The driving range is open if you feel the need to hit some balls.

Monday, January 3, 2011

Clear and minus 6, not a very good start to a golfers morning. The good news is that the record rainfall we had in Dec. has all drained away. The bad news is that the ground is frozen so hard that you can't get a tee in if you wanted to. The range will be open today but that is about it. There is rain in the forecast for tomorrow but if it doesn't warm up that precipitation could fall as snow. A nice cheerful blog for the first Monday in January. See you out there.

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Clear, cold and windy. No this is not a forecast for Saskatchewan. It is a refreshing morning on the course, again, clear and frosty. We didn't get started until after 11:00 yesterday and I don't expect anything different today. The good news is that the sun is shining and we don't have any snow. We will be closed on New Years Day but will be back for the year on Sunday. Have a safe and happy New Year and I'll see you all next year.

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

As expected, with the clear skies, we have frost this morning. The forecast is for no rain until Sunday so, again, there will be frost in the mornings this week. The course is draining well from the weekend deluge and the sun will be shining so another good day on the course. Call ahead before heading out this morning. See you out there.

Monday, December 27, 2010

Wow!!! Can it rain when it wants to. Five inches over the weekend. There are some puddles on the course but all in all the water is flowing away quite well. The front nine is open for walkers only but the back nine is open with full access for golf cars. The forcast is for some rain today then a clear week ahead. When it is clear overnight we can expect frost delays so phone ahead before heading out. Just for a note of interest, Mt. Washington recieved six feet of snow over the weekend and now has a base of over 17 feet. We are very greatful that we didn't get this weekends precipitation in the form of snow. See you out there.

Thursday, December 23, 2010

What a day it was yesterday, sunny and warm, wow. Unfortunately, the weather man/lady has forcast a little different picture for the next few days. Maybe the wind warning and the one inch of light rain will miss us today and the two to three inches forcast for the end of the week will miss us also. Golfers are always hopeful.
We will be closed Christmas day so our hard working staff can spend time with their families.
Everyone at Pheasant Glen would like to wish a merry Christmas to all who frequent our golf course and look forward to seeing you on Boxing Day, trying out your new golf gear.
