We enjoyed??!!>??? a skiff of snow overnight so the course is still covered. The forecast is for showers today and the rest of the week with heavier rain on Fri. It will likely be a couple of days yet before we open if the present rate of thawing persists. Keep your spirits up, warm weather will arrive. Enjoy.

Sunday, February 27, 2011

My how time does fly when you are having fun. Feb. is almost over and truly, spring is around the corner. It is still white out on the course, not even the driving range mats are showing yet. Just showers forecast for the next couple of days and then rain on Tues. and Wed. I hope you all have carpets at home that stimp around 10 to practise your putting on. Enjoy your time away from the course, as hard as that might be.

Today's early blog has been compromised due to an inability to type while wearing mittens. This very sentence is being typed one letter at a time with the end of a pencil that is being held between my elbows, seeing as my hands need to be near my face in order to receive a small amount of warmth from my breath. Given the obvious difficulty of this task -- i.e. pencil slippage; correcting typos; the shivering -- one would think a bit of foresight could have been employed in order to avoid starting it in the first place.

Due to the amount of snow and cold weather the Golf Shop will be closed today. I will be in later this afternoon to check messages. It is very cold and although the roads have been plowed they are very icy. I suggest you stay home and watch the PGA Tour's Match Play event on TV.
Snow.....Cold.....See you next week

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

I think it's time for Kelly to take some time off. His predictions and then reporting of this cold weather is bringing me down. The GOOD NEWS! the demos he told everyone we had a couple of days ago arrived late yesterday so if you are in the market for some new sticks come on out and give them a try. We have mens and ladies drivers, fairways and hybrid demo's in Taylor Made and Callaway. We also have a mens and ladies combo set of hybrids and irons to demo. As they say about a storm, make sure your car has a full tank of gas and you have ample groceries in case you are snowed in, soooo...... NOW would be a good time to load up on new equipment before the storm hits.

See you on the range.
The good news.....no new snow overnight. The temp. is -4 c so the ground is white with frost. When the sun comes out this morning and melts the frost we should be able to open on temps. History says an 11:00 start time so lets tentatively plan for that. The snow the weather office is forecasting for later today, tonight and tomorrow might pass us by... you know clean living and all that. The range will be open so at least come out and get the kinks out. See you out there.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

It's getting a little greener but still doubtful that we will get open today. I would say we are still more than 50% covered with the white stuff. Let's hope the sun stays out and we'll be open tomorrow.
Snow is a four letter word. A little snow squall blew through around 3:30 yesterday afternoon and I'm afraid, the ground is still white this morning. The temperature is supposed to reach 5 c this afternoon so maybe we will get going before noon today. The weather office is calling for another chance of snow this evening and overnight.( can you see the dark cloud over my head this morning) Call ahead before coming out. Enjoy whatever you do today.

Monday, February 21, 2011

Front nine is open on half temps and half regualr greens. We hope to get all the front open sometime today. Back nine is doubtful but we will check again later.
It is going to be hard to predict a start time this morning. We have a bit of frost now but it looks on the radar that it could rain/snow soon. The temperature is 0 c so the whole morning is going to be a weather crap shoot. The driving range will be open at 9:00 and we will open the course on temps as soon as possible. Again it will depend on mother nature when and if we get the greens open. Spring is around the corner. See you out there.

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Driving range is open on mats. Front nine is open on temporary greens and will probably stay that way. Great golf on TV with Couples and Baddeley making birdie on #1 and Couples chipping in for bird on #2 to tie for the lead.
I don't know about you but this is still better then rain or snow. Kelly is right could be a challenge to get any greens open today. Anyone still in the dog house from Valentines Day? Today would be a great day to come in and purchase a dozen Srixon ladies balls for $24.95 plus hst and recieve a $10 gift certificate in the restaurant (opening March 1st) and present it to your loved one while you watch Fred Couples try to beat the young guns on the PGA Tour. And, let's not forget about the men. Ladies come out and purchase a long sleeved Cleveland mock neck for $29.95 plus hst and you'll also recieve a gift certificate. I can feel it warming up already.
It is a little chilly this morning (-5 c ) so there will be delays in the start times. The course has been opening around 11:00 on temps the last couple of days but it seems colder today. The greens opening for play will be a challenge. Hopefully the sun shines bright and hot all day. The range will be open today so come out and try the new demo clubs that have arrived and start the spring off with new clubs. See you out there.

Saturday, February 19, 2011

We have the front nine open on temps starting a 11:00. The greens should open up later in the day. The driving range is open as well. Stay tooned for updates.

Frost Delay

The golf course is covered by a blanket of white frost. The sun has come out and should melt the frost. We should be able to get going by 10:30- 11:00 on temps.

Friday, February 18, 2011

OPEN - 18 holes regular greens

The frost is still holding this morning. Driving range is open if you so desire. Stay tuned... - Chris

Well, the cool conditions prevail and the greens are still frozen. OPEN on the front nine with temps. - Chris

11:30 - OPEN. Front & back on regular greens.

Frost Delay

FROST DELAY. The major white stuff looks to have hit north of us so we will be playing today. Once the frost lifts, we'll be on regular greens. Check back for updates - Chris

Thursday, February 17, 2011

Get your shorts on. It has warmed up enough to stop snowing and the greens are open for play. Hurry, you'll want to beat the crowd.
Frost, snow!! Where's the nearest airport? Driving range is now open, but no practice greens. Front nine will open on temps shortly and if it warms up the pins will move back to the regular greens.
A full moon that is visible this time of year means a delayed start time. Jack frost arrived with the clear skies. The forecast is for periods of instability today with s___w overnight. Maybe the weatherman/women will be wrong for our area. If the sun comes out this morning our start time should be 10:30 - 11:00 ish. Cheer up, spring is just around the corner. See you out there.

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Apparently it was dark at 6:45am and the dusting of snow and frost was not visible. Very cold outside, looks like it could be an hour or so. Make sure you read yesterday's blog regarding the Shootout at the Glen!
Partly cloudy with sunny breaks...I like that forecast. There were spotty snow showers in the area overnight but we seemed to have avoided those and the course is green. We should be on for a 9:00 start unless something nasty with the weather happens. See you out there.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Enough is enough! Let's get the season started. Saturday, February 26th we will be having the second Men's Shootout at the Glen. The format will be net and gross stableford points and is open to members and non-members. Entry fee will be $25.00 per player for members and $40.00 for non-members. The entry includes pizza from Pizza Connection, shared golf car and prize monies. You can sign up as a foursome or single and play together but the teams will be a blind draw. Call the Golf Shop today, space is limited. Tee times will start at 10:30.
Tee times will start at the normal time of 9am all on greens. Practice greens are all open as well. The weather is mild with a bit of a breeze, so come out and enjoy the fresh cut greens.
Sales that are going on: Titleist Pro V1's are $39.95 a dozen, Pheasant Glen Logo cart bags are $99.95.
The rain has stopped for now and the skies have cleared. With the clear skies comes cooler temps so, this morning we have a bit of frost. It will be hard to predict a time when the frost will lift because of the scattered rainfall and clear skies mixed in. We will as always open the course as soon as possible. Call ahead before coming out or come in early and check out the pro-shop for the new daily specials. See you out there.

Monday, February 14, 2011

We are very lucky (smart) that we don't live in Vancouver. They have both rainfall and wind warnings for today and our forecast is for light rain with a slight breeze. Not perfect for golf but I know people who have played in worse conditions. Come out to the course and check out the new deals that are appearing, in the Pro Shop, every couple of days. Enjoy whatever you do today.

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Warm out there today. Played in the monsoon yesterday but the greens were unbelievable. Fast and true. A few puddles from yesterday's rain but all in all it looks like it could be a great day for golf.
Bring a foursome for $100.
1 dozen ProV's for $39.95.
Pheasant Glen logo cart bags on sale for $99.95 today and tomorrow only!!
Quite a rain over the last couple of days. We registered just over 1.3" (32.5mm). The good news is that there should be no frost this morning. Just showers for the rest of the day so a golf game is definitely in the picture. This week the temps are supposed to cool down some, with clear skies and you know what that means.....great golf in the afternoon. Have a great day and I'll see you out there.

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Due to light rain and mild weather all eighteen holes are open as well as the practice greens. So come on out. Sales that are going on are: all long sleeve shirts are 50% off, golf gloves are 25% off, and micro speed cart and sun mountain golf bag $299.95.

Friday, February 11, 2011

Both nines open with regular greens. 1pm
-Chris
Cool conditions continue with frozen greens today. The front nine is open on temps. Chipping and putting greens are closed but if you are eager to hit balls, the range will be open.

For those who have that dreaded habit of standing too close to your ball, after you hit it, maybe it's time to try some of our demo drivers. Titliest and Ping are available for a test drive and you might pick up a few yards! Come on out. - Chris

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Clear and cold equals frost.....a repeat of yesterdays blog you say? No but it could be. We got going yesterday on temps around 11:00ish. Look for that as well again today. If the sun doesn't shine, I don't know if the greens will thaw out at all today. Again call before coming out. Enjoy whatever you do today.

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Minus 3 and clear skies, everyone knows what that means. Frost....I don't expect any activity on the golf course ( except the driving range ) until after 10:30. Call ahead before coming out.
Gord is away until Sat. morning so while he is away Glenna wants to clear out a few items.
Micro golf cart and Micro golf bag regular $369.00 out the door for $299.00
All long sleeved clothing 50% off
All golf gloves 25% off ( Larry S. )
It is going to be a nice afternoon for golf . Play well.

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Did you know? We are now carrying the new Titleist D2 and D3 and Taylor Made R11 drivers! Titleist drivers are in stock and Taylor made should arrive near the end of February. These new products have the adjustable hozels which can change the loft, lie and even open or close the face. The shafts are completely interchangable which will make club fitting even easier. The Titleist drivers are selling for $399.95 and the T aylor Made R11 will be $499.95. Come on in and ask for a demo.

DON'T FORGET Titlesit Prov1's are on sale for $39.95 a dozen while quantities last! They are selling quickly at this price so don't miss out.
It is going to be another sunny day today. The wind has died down so nobody has to weigh themselves down, with rocks in the pockets, today. It is touch and go for frost this morning which means that if the frost does come on it won't stay long. A 9:00 start is likely. Enjoy the sun and play well.

Monday, February 7, 2011

Just a little rain to keep the frost away and then the sun is going to shine. Sounds like the perfect Feb. morning. Well, that's whats happening. It's going to be a great day for golf. We will be starting on time and the sun will be shining. See you out there.

Sunday, February 6, 2011

A few showers rolled in over night but, the radar is not showing any in the area at the moment. The rainfall amount overnight was a mere 1/10 of an inch ( converted to 2.5mm) . The rest of the day is going to be scattered showers. The golf course will be open on time and with all greens playable. Play well.

Saturday, February 5, 2011

It is a great day for golf. The course is open and in excellent condition. The greens are in amazing shape as they are running fast and true. The weather feels mild and is perfect for golf.
Sales that are currently running, all remaining shoes are 40% off, and titleist pro v1's are $39.95 while supplies last.
The signs point to a great day for golf. Mt. Arrowsmith is visible, the clouds are thin and the rain gauge smirked at me as though I were crazy for even looking at it. I may smirk back if tomorrow's rain actually arrives, but for today we can all remain happy that the maintenance crew brought back the decent weather. What a great, great bunch of guys.

Friday, February 4, 2011

All 18 holes are open. We are rolling and cutting greens today. Weather feels mild, come on out! Just a reminder, Pro-V1's are being blown out for $39.95 a dozen while supplies last and all shoes are 40% off.
Now that the maintenance crew is back three things are worth noting:

1. This afternoon is supposed to be sunny and mild.
2. The radar shows that the forecasted showers for this morning are currently staying about half an hour to the south of us.
3. All of the greens will be open today and we will open on time.

Coincidence?? (We choose to believe otherwise.)

Thursday, February 3, 2011

I can't believe it. The entire Maintenance Crew is away today and they left me in charge for the first time. This was my day to shine and it rained, taking away the thrill of checking for frost and frozen ground. I think they planned it this way. The back nine will need some checking as #10, #11, #12 were still frozen at the end of yesterday but I would think by the time the first group gets through around 10:30 it should be all good. We've got a heck of a deal in the Golf Shop for today and tomorrow: Titleist Prov's are on sale for $39.95 a dozen (reg $59.95) and all shoes are on for 40% off. Hurry in the clock is ticking!

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Sunshine has arrived, so front nine is on regular greens, chipping and puttings are open. Come out for a great walk and enjoy the great greens.
The frost has left us. Greens are still frozen but the front nine is ope on temps. Regular front nine greens will open when they thaw but we are doubtful about the back nine. We will check on it later, keep your fingers crossed.
Does anyone have a groundhog so we can tell if there is going to be six more weeks of winter? It might be as accurate as the weather person. Clear and cold. You know the drill. Temps around 11:00 and we will get the greens open as soon as possible. Yesterday they opened around 1:00. Enjoy the sun as it won't be around for the next few days. See you out there.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Here we go! Front nine open on temps and the regular greens will open in about an hour or so. Back nine will probably remain closed.
Getting better. Range is open and the front nine will be open shortly on temps. regular greens will be open later in the day.
Still very white and cold out there. It looks like it will be some time after 11:00am before we get started again today. Will update around 10:30.
Clear skies and minus 2 , just a beautiful and almost perfect morning for star gazing. Not so much for an early morning round of golf. We started on temps around 11:00 and greens about noon, yesterday, and that will probably hold true for today as well. As always with frost, call ahead before heading out. See you out there.
