September 29/16

Well that summer sure went fast. Fall is here and with that comes cold weather and with cold weather comes the 'F' word , frost. Yesterday was our first frost delay of the season which was 5 months from our last frost delay in the spring. Canada, eah? Today's frost is much heavier than yesterday's so I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get started until 9:30 today(9:30ish). Enjoy your round.

Tuesday

Wow, a brilliant almost full moon with a corresponding cool temperature. I don't think the delay should be too long if any, you know, one of those days. We're poking small holes in the greens on the Glen today so the start will be on the Pines that way there's no interruption to your round. Enjoy the sunshine.

Kelly

Monday, March 21, 2016

Monday

Again there are showers in the area so umbrellas are nice accessories to have at hand should the need arise. Spring weather is at hand and right on time at that so be prepared for anything, weather wise.

Kelly

Sunday, March 20, 2016

Sunday

Showers in the area which is good news because there is no frost and the start will be on time.

Kelly

Saturday, March 19, 2016

Saturday

It's a bit cool this morning but so far the clouds have kept the frost away. Barring some unforeseen, rapid, only-in-the-movies temperature plunge I think we can safely say that the start will be on time. Heck, the rain isn't even supposed to start until later tonight. If Leicester City win today this could go down as the greatest Saturday in recent history... Enjoy your round.

Friday, March 18, 2016

Friday

The sky is clear and there's a bite in the air that always screams, "Frost Delay!" Let's count on a 10:00 start while secretly hoping for 9:41. It's going to be sunny today and you will have a great round.

Thursday, March 17, 2016

Thursday

Beautiful sunshine seems to trump disappointment about a frost delay at least 51% of the time...well for the first three days anyway, then, all bets are off..stupid frost..there's no frost at my house...stupid cold weather..luckily this is only day three so the majority will still be happy. We're looking like a 10:00ish start today.

Kelly

Wednesday, March 16, 2016

Wednesday

Clear again overnight so we have frost...9:30 is the targeted start but that could vary a bit ...another sunny day to enjoy whatever you do outside.

Kelly

Tuesday, March 15, 2016

Tuesday

Clear and frosty to start with so don't get too excited until 9:30...there are showers in the area(snow?) but just a slim chance. Enjoy the sunshine , it's here until Saturday.

Kelly

Monday, March 14, 2016

Monday

There is a bit of a drizzle to start the day off right ??!!?,.&@&?' but it shouldn't last long. Oh, and it's a beautiful 2c , what a beautiful day. The start will be on time.

Kelly

Sunday, March 13, 2016

Sunday

It looks like another storm approaches...the steady heavy rain gets here around noon...bring it on! The start will be on time.

Kelly

Saturday, March 12, 2016

Saturday

And the draining continues... Power carts should be okay on the Pines today but we'll have to keep the Glen closed to start the morning. The heavier rain has been pushed back to tomorrow, so if things go well the Glen should be open this afternoon if only to foot traffic. Enjoy your round.

Friday, March 11, 2016

Friday

2.5 inches of rain since Wednesday afternoon does not bode well for a full round of golf but I think we can squeeze in 9 holes today. The Pines will be open to foot traffic only as the cart path is impassable in spots. I'd recommend you get your golf in today, by the way: the rain is coming again tomorrow. See you out there.

Thursday, March 10, 2016

Thursday

What happens when it rains over 50mm on top of saturated ground.? Nothing pretty, that's for sure. This morning will be a write off for golf and if it doesn't stop raining soon the whole day will be a wash. El NiƱo!!!, jeez!!??!!!

Kelly

Wednesday, March 9, 2016

Wednesday

7c...It looks like the rain is going to hold off until later this afternoon and last until 10:00ish tomorrow morning...not light rain either, heavy downpour sideways with gusts to 77 k/hr duck drowning, rain..tomorrow will be a better day.

Kelly

Tuesday, March 8, 2016

Tuesday

Clear skies overnight with clouds and rain moving in...sound familiar..jeez..good news( kind of)...only light rain today which is a lot better than what is forecast for the next 5 days...oh yeah, winds gusting to 53 km/h today and jeez...the start should be on time.

Kelly

Monday, March 7, 2016

Monday

More rain overnight so we haven't dried out any ...today is going to be the best day for a few days so don't cancel your golf hoping for better weather any time soon(maybe Thursday). FYI, we've received March's average precipitation already, anything more is a "bonus"...triple sigh.

Kelly

Sunday, March 6, 2016

Sunday

There are showers around this morning but I don't see a steady rain for the rest of the day...oh, and it's a bit breezy as well. The start will be on time.

Kelly

Saturday, March 5, 2016

Saturday

Is it just me or did we get well over an inch of very windy rain yesterday? Some days are just completely devoid of the "fun factor" and that was one of them. In much better news, the sun is supposed to be out today, so all you'll need is a windbreaker and your clubs. Mind the puddles and enjoy your round.

Friday, March 4, 2016

Friday

To get the most out of your round today I suggest an umbrella, a windbreaker, a keep-your-head-down and a don't-try-to-kill-it. Have fun out there.

Thursday, March 3, 2016

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

Wednesday

Well, wasn't yesterday just special...we ended up with 28mm of rain so there will be a couple of puddles around..today is the best day until next week sometime so take advantage of the nice weather to get your round in. The start will be on time.

Kelly

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

Tuesday

Heavy rain with gusts to 77 kph....until 4:00 pm... sigh...we have water pooling on the greens so we'll be closed until that situation clears up and that will be 10 minutes after the heavy rain stops. I'll update later.

Kelly

Monday, February 29, 2016

Monday

It's one of 'those' mornings..clear then cloudy then clear then cloudy etc., the start time could be delayed and then again it might not..if you're a patient person come at your regular time and if you're not a patient person, come at 10:00. Today looks good for golf, ignore tomorrow's forecast.

Kelly

Sunday, February 28, 2016

Sunday

Rain, tapering off this afternoon...it hasn't rained too much so we won't have that much water laying around. Again, golfing this afternoon will be nicer than this morning .

Kelly

Saturday, February 27, 2016

Saturday

As The Beatles used to sing, "It's going to be sunny later on today and the start will be on time." At least I think it was them. Enjoy your round.

Friday, February 26, 2016

Friday

We're starting off with a bit of frost this morning. I don't think the start time will be delayed but - and there's always a "but" - it depends on what happens with cloud cover in the next hour or so. Either way, if there is a delay it won't be for long. The rest of the day should be great for golf. A bit of light rain in the afternoon never hurt anyone.

Thursday, February 25, 2016

Thursday

-1c so again we have frost. We've been lucky this past week and the frost has come off earlier than expected so I'm going to go out on a limb this morning and say the start time will be 9:30ish ...I know, that's a daring prediction but recklessness runs in my blood. Enjoy the sun this afternoon.

Kelly

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Wednesday

Cool but cloudy...lets go with the start being on time and if it clears off and gets cold instead of cool we'll have to exercise a bit of patience. Highs of 10c this afternoon so the later you play the nicer it'll be.

Kelly

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

Tuesday

-1c and partly cloudy...heavy frost..10:00ish heavy. Sunny this afternoon but wind out of the north so layer up. To the chagrin of many we're not making the right bunker by 1 green bigger. In fact we're shaping it a little different and sodding it in. Our projected time to completion is about 10 days. It is ground under repair for the duration.

Kelly

Monday, February 22, 2016

Monday

We've seen this many times this winter, clear and cold overnight then clouds moving in with the chance of a shower so that begs the question will we start on time? I doubt it. Closer to 10:00 today. The frost is really heavy and I think the showers will miss us. Sunshine this afternoon. Play well.

Kelly

Sunday, February 21, 2016

Sunday

Crystal clear all night so that brings the frost but now there is a front moving in bringing a bit of rain. The question now is whether the rain and/or warmth hits to melt the frost before the scheduled start. I'd say yes it will but be prepared for a delay just in case I'm wrong( which has happened only 37 times this year). It's an umbrella day.

Kelly

Saturday, February 20, 2016

Saturday

Clear sky overnight in February = FROST. It's a pretty good one too, so I'd expect a start time of around 10:00, give or take. Once we get going, though, it should be a great sunny day for golf. Enjoy your round.

Friday, February 19, 2016

Friday

Some blue sky showed up for a while yesterday but it looks to be taking today off. Some wind and light rain are on the way but have you seen the forecast for the rest of the week? It looks very promising for golf. Lots of sunshine on the way. AND...we'll start on time today.

Thursday, February 18, 2016

Thursday

Just in case you were out golfing yesterday and thought we were drying out too much, do not fear, we got 14mm overnight so we're good. The start should be on time as it's mostly cloudy. Just a 40% chance of rain today so perfect golf weather and an added bonus is there isn't a big worry about uv rays.

Kelly

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

Wednesday

7c with light rain, again?!!!??...which will lead into cloudy with showers(70% pop) tomorrow which will lead into light rain (90%pop) Friday. Nothing but sunshine for the weekend though...isn't February always a nice month?..always I thought..we're not supposed to fear drowning in February..ok, last year was the anomaly but if we throw this year into the equation we have two years in a row and now does that make it a tradition? Son of a..time for my yellow glasses.

Kelly

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

Tuesday

We've had a lot of these mornings this winter...rain hard, clear up overnight then have frost issues to start the day...the good news is that the sun is supposed to be visible today. Let's shoot for a 10:00ish start today and see how close we get.

Kelly

Monday, February 15, 2016

Monday

It's mild this morning so don't let the threat of a little rain stop you from getting your Monday round in. It looks like the rain is staying to the south of us most of the day so maybe we won't see any...I'd bring an umbrella just in case. We'll start on time.

Kelly

Sunday, February 14, 2016

Sunday

6c and light rain...it looks like we can swap light for heavy a couple of times this week but next weekend there is nothing but sunshine, so that might be the start of spring...might be !?!..we'll start on time today.

Kelly

Saturday, February 13, 2016

Saturday

Kind of a strange one this morning. It feels like we may get some frost at sunrise but that will likely be gone by start time as the rain is a comin'. Nothing too heavy, apparently - just light and steady for most of the day. No big deal. Enjoy your round.

Friday, February 12, 2016

Friday

Another 22 mm of rain fell yesterday and this morning's "light rain" isn't feeling all that light at the moment. However, the rumour is that it should taper off by this afternoon. All is not lost: the start will be on time!

Thursday, February 11, 2016

Thursday

It's a cool morning but not frosty, good news..the forecast is for rain later but that could be as wrong as yesterday's forecast..could be...by looking at the satellite images for western Canada the optimist in me says the clouds are going to split around us and we won't get much rain, yet the realist in me says bring an umbrella and nobody wants to know what the negative part of me has to say. All weather gloves????

Kelly

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

Wednesday

After the last couple of days it's going to be hard to get out and play in the rain for the next little bit(week). Good news...we have no frost so the start will be on time. Sigh...

Kelly

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

Tuesday

Not a cloud to be seen for 200 miles(321.868 kms more or less) so it'll be no surprise to anyone when I say we have frost. Today's forecast high is 12c so an afternoon round of golf will be awesome. A guesstimate of a 10:00ish start is what we're going with today. Enjoy the sunshine and your game and whatever you do don't look at the long range forecast, those of us that have looked are depressed enough for everyone that hasn't looked.

Kelly

Monday, February 8, 2016

Monday

A bit of cloud cover and 4c...that's the way we're supposed to start the day, in February. As a bonus, the forecast high is 11c ...as another bonus, it's a holiday ...as another bonus, we're golfing today.. the start should be close to on time...enjoy your round.

Kelly

Sunday, February 7, 2016

Sunday

Light(sometimes heavy) rain and 5c...sounds like a perfect day for golf. To heck with the super bowl game, it's going to be a blow out anyway. Panthers by 17...what's up with the temperatures this week , a bunch of 10s with an 11 thrown in on Tuesday? I hope that forecast is right..like I heard from an 'extreme ' optimist "spring is just around the corner ".
Oh I almost forgot... The start should be on time today barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Update

Good thing I reserved the right to be wrong...
The frost is leaving us quicker than expected and the course will be open by the time you read this. We'll start on the Pines today to give some puddles on the Glen time to drain off. Enjoy your round.

Saturday

When it rains it pours. And it did. Over an inch of rain came at us yesterday, mostly in a sideways fashion, so there will be a few puddles out there today. And to rub salt in the wound the system blew through here overnight and left us with clear skies. You guessed it: FROST. I'm going to guess that 10:30ish will be the start time while reserving the right to be dead wrong. Enjoy the sunshine.

Friday, February 5, 2016

Friday

Rain and wind all day with gusts up to 72 km/hr. Today we see who the fair weather golfers really are. Actually, we won't see them at all. For the rest of you the start will definitely be on time. Enjoy your round?

Thursday, February 4, 2016

Thursday

At present we have frost....I know the forecast is rain this morning but it hasn't happened yet. If everything stays as is, we won't get going until 10:00ish, if it starts raining we'll get started sooner. Now that's a precise statement??!!!

Kelly

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Wednesday

Rain with gusts to 71km/h...how do you like the day so far?? No it hasn't hit quite yet but as the saying goes " wait a few minutes and the weather will change". If you're adventurous or cr__y the start will be on time.

Kelly

Tuesday, February 2, 2016

Tuesday

Up until a few years ago, when it was overcast we didn't have to worry about frost ..now it doesn't matter, it's overcast and we have frost...I was a little off with a guesstimate of the start time yesterday so today I'll split the difference, let's use 10:30 as a start time goal and see how close I get. There shouldn't be any frost worries for the next three days, umbrellas  umbrellas umbrellas.

Kelly

Monday, February 1, 2016

Monday

Clear and cold and frosty...not a strange situation for February 1st...if we use 11:00 as a time to shoot for for a start we shouldn't be too far off , either way. I'm not sure that El NiƱo is any benefit for us on the weather front...I liked last year better.

Kelly

Sunday, January 31, 2016

Sunday

It's good to be back...it looks like an on time start today and the water has receded so both nines will be open. Enjoy your round.

Saturday, January 30, 2016

Saturday

The course continues to drain after the deluge of the other day. The Pines is now open to power carts but the Glen needs a bit longer before it opens for play.
We're being told to expect light rain and a breeze this morning and some showers this afternoon. The next few days look much better though. Sunshine is on its way.

Friday, January 29, 2016

Friday

Not much has changed since yesterday's rather flooded scenario. It takes a while for that much water to drain away, especially with the golf course being the collection area for quite a bit of surrounding land. That said, it'll be another day of golf on the Pines as the Glen isn't yet traversable. Power carts will have to remain parked for the time being. Don't forget your umbrella and windbreaker this morning!

Thursday, January 28, 2016

Thursday

Should I be concerned that two of each species just walked by in an orderly fashion? It's wet out there, folks.
We had 55 mm of rain yesterday and last night. Actually, 55.378 mm to be precise, or 2.18 inches for you American readers. It'll come as no surprise that the Glen is closed for the time being and the Pines is open to only foot traffic. The good news is that it should be a gorgeous day to play, no matter what the limitations. Let the draining begin...

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

Wednesday

I wasn't expecting to be able to see stars this morning but there they are. The big rain has been pushed back to this afternoon and tonight, leaving this morning as the best time to get your round in. There's even a bit of a drying wind to help us out. Have fun out there.

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

Tuesday

The rain is supposed to let up around lunch today, and if you've seen tomorrow's forecast you'll know that this afternoon is the time to get in a round of golf. See you out there.

Sunday, January 24, 2016

Sunday

We have thick frost and a spectacular moon this morning. There aren't many clouds to block the sunlight (at the moment), so if it stays that way I'm guessing the start will be around 10:30? Enjoy your round.

Saturday, January 23, 2016

Saturday

Now this is more like it. The start will be on time today and the sun is due to shine, possibly right through Monday. Throw in an enchilada and a couple cervezas and you'll think you're in Mexico. Welllll...

Friday, January 22, 2016

Friday

We had over 22mm of rain yesterday, so there will be the odd puddle to contend with this morning. We're getting closer to a sunny day, though - all is not lost. And tomorrow looks to be even better. I'm sure we'll see you out there.

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

Wednesday

Another chilly night in January has left us with frost this morning. The first tee times will likely be delayed but it's tough to say how long. Yesterday we got going shortly after 10:00, so that should be a pretty safe bet today. Enjoy your round.

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

Tuesday

As the stars were out last night you may have already guessed what that means. FROST is upon us. I assume it will be at least 10:30 before we're ready to go. It all depends on whether the clouds get in the way of the direct sunlight, as usual. We should have a decent couple of days coming up, though, so get in your golf before the rain hits on Thursday.

Sunday, January 17, 2016

Sunday

All 18 holes are open on regular greens, if your ready to brave the weather conditions.

Saturday, January 16, 2016

Saturday

Well, I'll say this: there will be no frost delay. Just some sideways rain to start the day. It's due to taper off in the afternoon, though, so we'll see you whenever the conditions suit your game.

Friday, January 15, 2016

Course Open

The frost stayed away and the front nine is open on regular greens. We will monitor the back nine throughout the day.

Friday

This is one of those mornings that the golf blogger loves to hate. It's cold enough for frost but the cloud cover has kept it away so far. If the clouds hang around for a few hours we will be able to start on time on the Glen. However, if the sky clears up anytime soon I can almost guarantee a frost delay. Cross your fingers and enjoy your round.

Thursday, January 14, 2016

Thursday

El NiƱo, mel shpeƱo...I liked last winter a lot better than this an El NiƱo year. We have frost and by the way what the heck was that yesterday morning?..just stops raining, clears off, the temperature drops 5 degrees and we get frost ..all in 3 hours...that's just stupid wrong. I wouldn't get too excited about golfing before 11:00 today..Saturday looks like it could be a good golf day, there shouldn't be any frost.

Kelly

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

Wednesday

Hallelujah, we have golf...the Glen has thawed out so we will start on time with the greens open. We had 13mm of rain overnight so there will be a couple of puddles around but all in all not too bad..enjoy your round.

Kelly

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

Tuesday

With just 3mm of rain overnight our frozen status hasn't changed much but at least we're heading in the right direction...we'll start on temps and wait for the big thaw on the greens.

Monday, January 11, 2016

Monday

-2c at the moment with precipitation (what form is yet to be determined) not far away..if it snows for a bit this morning we could be in trouble, golf wise,today...if it starts raining we could be good to go later this morning, later being the key word. I'll update with good news when it happens.

Sunday, January 10, 2016

Sunday

Rain starting tomorrow and continuing for the next 10 days...now depending on what season you hear those words your outlook on a golf game will be formed...this time of year? , music to your ears...I'll update later to see if we can get out on temps but my hopes aren't up too high, we'll probably have to wait for the rain to thaw us out.

That chinook we were hoping for didn't come through. The fog did, though, so the sunlight we need wasn't able to...  You know where this is going. The practice facility is the place to be today. Heaters, putting stations, a computer simulator to help you iron out your swing - they're all there to keep the rust off for when the course thaws out. See you in there.

Friday, January 8, 2016

Friday

A hair milder this morning but you can still bounce a golf ball off the frozen tee boxes. It'll take a fair bit of sunshine (and a chinook) to get us golfing anywhere but inside the practice facility today. Think warm thoughts and we'll see you out there as soon as we can.

Thursday, January 7, 2016

Thursday

Now is a perfect time to come out and work on your game in the comfort of our heated events facility. Saturday

Happy New Year, everyone. As you may have guessed, the course is in one heck of a frozen state to start the year. If the frost lifts today it won't be in the am hours, and at that point I'd put money on the ground remaining too frozen to even get out on temps. Looks like a great day to read the break in your carpet as you practice indoors. See you asap.
